An unparalleled delivery !

This is a story that one Armagnac producer is not about to forget! This incredible case shows that in Armagnac, we can find solutions for everything, even the most surprising demands…

In the 1990s, the producer of a well-known Armagnac house received a call from a reputable restaurateur on the Cote d’Azur.  Some Arab Emirs had been for lunch in his restaurant where they tasted a vintage 1934 that they deemed excellent. They wanted to buy twelve bottles as it was the year of birth of one of the Emirs.

The producer suggested sending the twelve exceptional bottles in a package the following week.  The restaurateur replied that they needed the bottles by the next day at the latest.  The owner of the château therefore invited them to come and collect them and to meet them at the estate.  The confused restaurateur explained that the Emirs could only travel by seaplane and that they required somewhere to land.

Biscarosse, the closest town where landing would be possible was too far away so the restaurant enquired as to the location of other closer areas of water where landing could be possible. The producer therefore suggested a lake, the Lac d’Uby in Barbotan, that was about 10 kilometres from the château.

The meeting was therefore organised for the following day !  As luck would have it, the lake was deemed unsuitable for swimming that day.

At the appointed time, the cellar master climbed into a boat with the so-desired case and headed for the seaplane that was in the process of landing.  Gloved faceless hands slipped out of the plane, grabbed the treasure and passed over an envelope in exchange.

Never had a delivery been so cleverly orchestrated!
